We are excited to launch the James Gillespie’s online “free shop”, a new equity support and sustainability initiative.
This is a new universal support through which any member of the school community can donate or “purchase” donated goods, such as revision guides and books, clothes and school bags.
This is open to everyone. The logic behind is that it will help to destigmatise receiving donated items, provide ease of access to the support, discretion and dignity. It will help to ease financial pressure on families even if they don’t necessarily meet the criteria for free school meals- there is a lot of hidden poverty amongst our families.
It will also help to reduce the environmental impact of buying new goods and will save useful items from being sent to landfill.

If you have any items you would like to donate, please drop them off in B3 in Bruntsfield House- or for that matter if you would like to make a “purchase” to help reduce the cost of back to school shopping for your own children, please go ahead!
