LGBT + Inclusion at JGHS

Who we are

James Gillespie’s High School staff and LGBT+ Club has been working to complete the LGBT Youth Scotland Schools Charter.  We aim to promote positive attitudes across the school as well as an inclusive community to all students, staff and our wider school community.

The JGHS LGBT+ Club are a social and campaigning club for LGBTQ+ students and their allies. We are primarily a social club but also aim to ensure that the school is a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all. We watch films, discuss current affairs and prepare for the school’s involvement in Edinburgh Pride in the summer. Bring your lunch along to the SNUG (Room M2.01) every Wednesday lunchtime to make new friends and get involved in our projects.

LGBT+ Rights

Members will never be asked to speak about or define their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, we are open to all! If you are anxious about attending on your own, follow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/jghs_lgbtplus/ – or speak to Mr Jennings for more information.

LGBT Youth Scotland provides quality youth work and support to LGBT+ young people and works in partnership for LGBT+ equality and human rights.  They provide support and advice for both pupils and parents  https://www.lgbtyouth.org.uk/
