Drama at JGHS is a practical, creative subject with a strong emphasis on skills development and their application. Whether pupils are considering careers in the theatre or simply want to develop confidence, creativity and communication, Drama provides a rich and rewarding learning experience for all.
S1 – S2
All S1 and S2 pupils receive one hour of Drama/Media per week, shared between both subjects. In S1, pupils have Drama from August to December, then Media from January to June. In S2, the timetable follows a unit-by-unit approach: Drama (Aug–Oct), Media (Oct–Jan), and a combined unit (Feb–June).
In S1 and S2, pupils progress from experimenting with movement, expression and voice into presenting scripted drama and developing sustained, believable characters. They build confidence in performing to each other and giving and accepting constructive feedback, both verbally and in writing.
