Gaelic Medium Education · James Gillespie’s High School

James Gillespie’s High School is the only secondary school in Edinburgh offering Gaelic Medium Education (GME). We provide up to 10 subjects through the medium of Gaelic, from S1 through to S6, supporting pupils who have progressed through Gaelic primary education at Bun-sgoil Taobh na Pàirce.

Our GME community — known as Darach — is based primarily at the Darroch Annexe on Gillespie Street, a dedicated Gaelic-first learning environment a 10-minute walk from the main campus.
