Mu Ath-thaigh Darroch / About the Annexe
The Darroch Annexe at 7 Gillespie Street is the dedicated Gaelic-first hub for our GME community. The school is committed to maintaining Darroch as a Gaelic-first space, creating a strong Gaelic environment for learning, teaching and social activities.
S1 GME pupils spend approximately 70% of their time at Darroch. S2 GME pupils also use the building, alongside S3–S6 pupils for specific subjects. All Darroch room numbers begin with ‘D’ (e.g. D1.03).

The Darroch Annexe is approximately a 10-minute walk from the main Warrender Park Road campus:
- Turn left onto Warrender Park Road when leaving the main JGHS campus
- Walk past James Gillespie’s Primary School and cross at Whitehouse Loan towards Bruntsfield Links
- Cross the Links towards the traffic lights at Bruntsfield Place
- Cross at the traffic lights and walk to near the bottom of the street — Leamington Terrace
- Turn right onto Upper Gilmore Place and walk to the end of the street
- Darroch Annexe will be on your right
