Anti-Bullying Policy
At JGHS, bullying of any kind is entirely unacceptable. We are committed to a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment for everyone.
What Is Bullying?
James Gillespie’s High School follows the City of Edinburgh Council’s framework, aligned with the national respectme guidance:
“Bullying is both behaviour and impact; the impact is on a person’s capacity to feel in control of themselves. It takes place in the context of relationships; it is behaviour that can make people feel hurt, threatened, frightened and left out.”
Types of Bullying

Verbal
Name-calling, teasing, direct threats, spreading malicious rumours, or insults.

Physical
Aggressive physical contact, pushing, kicking, tripping, or damage to personal property.

Social
Deliberate exclusion, isolation, or purposefully making someone feel left out.

Cyber
Abusive messages, posts or images shared via phones, apps or social media platforms.
How to Report an Incident

Pupils
Speak to your Pupil Support Leader, Key Adult or any trusted adult in school. You can also submit a report via the school’s internal digital form.
👨👩👧
Parents & Carers
Contact your child’s Pupil Support Leader directly by school email or phone. All reports are logged, monitored and investigated with full parent consultation.
👩🏫
Staff
Log incidents via the internal SharePoint Anti-Bullying Reporting System and initiate appropriate interventions, tracking impact through SEEMiS records.
