At the end of S2, pupils choose the subjects they will study in S3 — a broad selection of around seven subjects spanning the full curriculum. This is an important first step towards National qualifications, so aim for breadth, choose subjects you enjoy, and consider your longer-term ambitions. A Coursing Evening is held each January for pupils and families.

Moving into S5, pupils specialise further — typically selecting four or five Highers alongside any National 5 resits. This is also when School-College Partnership courses become available, offering a wider range of vocational and academic pathways beyond the school timetable. S6 course choices focus on Advanced Highers, the Scottish Baccalaureate, Foundation Apprenticeships and NPA options. This is your final year of school, so consider carefully what your post-school destination requires — whether university, college, an apprenticeship or employment.
